Sermons by Sam

With Sammy's baptism fast approaching, he's been coming up with some "spriritual thoughts" for me.  I had to share b/c they are quite fun!

While walking in the rain, Sam says "Heavenly Father is like our umbrella.  The rain is like sin.  He keeps the the rain off of us.  Now if we sin, we get our feet wet--like when you walk in a puddle.  Then you just repent and dry your feet off!"
At lunch time today, "We are like pizzas.  God is like the pizza creator.  Satan is the guy trying to eat us.  The more you sin, the more ingredients on your pizza.  As you repent, God will peel off ingredients to make you more delicious."

Well, I don't think he'll convert anyone anytime soon but he's thinking....right?

kids say the darndest things

Thurs night while getting ready for bed, Sam prayed that "Daddy would bring home souvenirs from his trip esp. a hat for him". So a little birdy called Daddy and told him to find a hat that said San Diego. When Daddy got home today the first thing was finding out Sam indeed got a hat that said San Diego. Sam smiled, said thank you, and then replied "I'm a little sad b/c I thought you were in SAM Diego and my hat would have my name on it." oh, for the love......


got the kids the wii game Super Mario bros. some of my favorite quotes so far:
Kalen:"Izzy! you can't die. Now get out there and play it!"
Isabel: "you guys are making me frus-ter-rated! and when I'm frus-ter-rated, I yell!"
Sam: "oh you two! this is not going to end well!"


Lately when Kalen gets excited, he gets very aggressive.  When Kurtis and I try to talk to him about it, he replies "I'm just busy.  I'm a busy guy."  He also likes to tell his dad "Oh, come on!" when he doesn't get his way.

sayings that aren't just cliche...they're true

1.  "growing up is hard to do"--It is hard to grow up.  Sometimes it downright stinks.  You padiddle around hoping to know what you're doing and often, you don't know what you're doing and you're scared that you are not only screwing yourself up but you might be screwing your kids up too!  That doesn't mean that I'd rather be a kid again.  While being a kid allows you innocence and freedom to "be a kid", being adult allows you to find yourself.  Be the person you want to be.  Plus, I get to be a wife and a mom and really those two titles make all the difficulty totally worth it.

2.  "We judge others by their actions but ourselves by our intentions."--I've lived this one today in fact.  My husband will often ask me what I want or if I'm happy and I almost always reply "I just want to be a good person".  I do!  I want to be a good person.  For the most part, I have good intentions.  But I often look to someone and think "they meant to do that" or "they knew what they were doing".  Sometimes, we as people just really don't know what we're doing.  We just try our best and it occassionally blows up in our faces.  And then we have to face saying #1!

 I guess these two statements are on my mind tonight.  I have to type them out.  I have to think through them.  I have to remember that it's okay to screw up.  It's okay to fall over.  The key is to get back up again.

supermom?

Isabel was attempting to read what my t-shirt said.  She finally gave up and asked me "what does it say?"
Me: "Super Mom.  Super Wife.  Super Tired."
Isabel: "well, you are a mom and a wife and you are tired but not you're not super at those things.  You are super at sleeping!"
Me: "Thanks Isabel.  I'm glad you told me those things."

And last night when I said I would like to see a certain movie, Kurtis said he didn't want to see it.  I turned to Sammy and said "maybe we could go on a date Sam, just you and me."
Sam: "I can't date someone who is already married.  But I guess if Daddy says it's okay, I could go in his place."
He's getting too big for me!
